Benefits of Volunteering

Annually, we throw a rocking bash called Volu-palooza, which honours our many dedicated volunteers and serves to raise awareness about the work we do in our community. But the benefits of volunteering stretch far beyond a one-day shindig.
We also have volunteer stickers and CSAC swag up for grabs on a graduated scale.

Soul Drive

When you volunteer with FAL, you help us form an important bridge within the province. Our work makes arts education and appreciation available to members of the community who face social and structural barriers. We believe that people should have adequate access to personal, professional, and community-based benefits that come along with building skills in a variety of arts disciplines. When you volunteer with FAL you become an agent of change for the benefit of all.

FAL clients and groups are made up of individuals who would not normally be able to access to this programming.

Professional Development

FAL offers opportunities for artists and arts enthusiasts to become engaged in the creative process on a professional level. Volunteers can choose to support the work of our ArtReach artists by assisting with workshops and learning new art-making and transformative teaching skills in the process. Often volunteers helping out with the workshops are able to eventually lead our workshops themselves at a professional rate. Volunteers with our Exhibitions Committee have the chance to not only interact with experienced arts professionals to determine which artists are shown in our gallery, but also to learn how to properly install artwork, work with exhibiting artists and organize arts events. There are many more opportunities like this!
