THE CAPITAL ACCESSIBILITY EXPANSION PROJECT
The Charlotte Street Arts Centre (CSAC) is a cornerstone of Fredericton’s cultural community. We strive to make arts experiences available to all. To grow in our mission, we have adapted our historic 1884 building to be more accessible to all, regardless of age or ability. We’ve also improved our public spaces so that CSAC can offer a first class experience for small venue performances.
The new addition to our building houses an accessible lobby, a new elevator that makes all floors fully reachable, and a box office for our performance hall. We have also refurbished our 175 seat small venue performance space and created a new backstage area, a green room, and several additional rooms that will be available for rent to artists or arts organizations.
We have already received generous support to get this project off the ground, and to make our spaces accessible and inclusive to all members of our community. We are grateful to the Department of Canadian Heritage ($826,075), the Regional Development Corporation ($375,000), and the City of Fredericton ($250,000) for supporting this important community project. Thanks also to the Fredericton Community Foundation, the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation, the McCain Foundation, Gemtec, Remsoft, the Crabtree Foundation, the Mais Foundation, and so many others for your immense generosity and support.
Please join us in helping make the arts accessible to all members of our community by donating to our Capital Campaign.
With our renovations comes the opportunity to sponsor or name some of the most important spaces in our Centre. Sponsoring a room gives you and your family/company/organization visibility at dynamic cultural events that occur almost daily at the centre.
Jim Myles Auditorium
The newly renovated auditorium at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre has been named after a remarkable leader, advocate of inclusiveness in community theatre and the arts, and friend, Mr. Jim Myles.
Attendees and performance participants gather pre and post performance in this high traffic common space located just outside the auditorium. For donors who take pride in supporting the performing arts, this is an ideal space in which to visibly demonstrate that support.
Naming Commitment: $50,000
Community Arts Room
This room will be home to the CSAC’s much valued ArtsReach program, developed by artists and cultural supporters. ArtsReach has already positively impacted hundreds of children, youth at risk, seniors, ethnic minority groups, abused women, the homeless, mental health patients and those coping with post incarceration transition.
Naming Commitment: $25,000
Fredericton Community Foundation Green Room
We are so proud to name the Green Room after the Fredericton Community Foundation. After years of support for our ArtReach programming, the foundation generously awarded the Charlotte Street Arts Centre the Community Impact Grant for 2017 in recognition of the centre's Accessibility Expansion Project. Thank you to the Fredericton Community Foundation!
The very critical and high cost elevator addition is key to the accessibility and inclusiveness of the entire centre. All donations of $1,000 or more in support of the elevator addition will be recognized on a separate donor wall located in close proximity to the elevator.
Donor Wall Name Inclusion: $1,000
