The CSAC Sunday Series will begin on July 14 in the Jim Myles Auditorium and will be happening from 2-4pm. We will have performances by two amazing local musicians: Emma Johnson & Marie-Ange!✨

Emma Johnson is a classically trained pianist within the Royal Conservatory with Janet Clarke for about 8 years. Starting at age 6, Emma thrived in competitions like the Fredericton Music Festival and even earned star of the festival in 1999. Although trained in classical music, Emma has continued her training on a solo journey which has led her to learning many jazz standards and music ranging from ragtime to Frank Sinatra. An avid performer, Emma has sculpted a repertoire including the most crowd-pleasing piano classics like Clair de Lune and Gymnopédies, but can easily slip into Beatles songs if it feels right. Going on 20 years of performing, she is almost at the point where she can take requests.

A New Brunswick born Lebanese-Canadian, Marie-Ange has been performing in some way or another all her life. Growing up immersed in opera and classical music, Marie-Ange is now branching out into piano composition and songwriting. Her music pushes emotional boundaries and begs you to feel deeply for just a moment. Songs forged from the darkest corners of our beings, bring to light uncomfortable topics – domestic abuse, mental illness, and poverty to name a few. Marie-Ange’s music embraces life’s discomfort and brings strength and intimate vulnerability, all in the hopes that somehow growth may come. Music has a purpose, even if only to make you feel something for a fleeting moment, for what are we but fleeting moments of our own?

The Charlotte Street Arts Centre is happy to present its new Sunday Series! From traditional to classical, from folk to jazz, we want the community to be able to enjoy some great music in a family-friendly setting. There will be drinks, food and a button-making station where you can create your own for $2! Bring your friends & family and join us for a classic Sunday-Funday! :)
