An Introduction to Rug Hooking

  • 732 Charlotte Street Fredericton, NB (map)

Join yarn lover Katie Hamill for this one-day workshop that will cover all the basic techniques involved in the wonderful craft of rug hooking! Historically rug hooking has ranged from pillows, rugs, runners or wall hangings and modern quilting and borrows from schools such as impressionism, pointillism and realism, blurring the distinction between art and craft. There is a long history of rug-making in Atlantic Canada and New Brunswick in particular: the oldest known hooked rug in Canada was designed by 16-year-old Susanna Smith and crafted by her 13-year-old sister Abigail in 1860 at New Maryland!  All materials are provided!
