Chapter by Chapter, Poem by Poem, Scene by Scene
with Jordan Trethewey.
This writing workshop IS for the faint of heart; for the introvert who wants to improve their craft, but doesn’t know how, or where, to begin. Your journey to becoming a better writer, reader, and reviewer, begins this winter at CSAC on the last Sunday of every month!
Chapter by Chapter, Poem by Poem, Scene by Scene aims to facilitate writers of all levels who seek feedback on their writing in a quiet, supportive, no-pressure environment.
This workshop series is organized by Jordan Trethewey, a Fredericton writer who has mucked about the writing trenches for decades. But don’t worry! He has no pedantic plan to tell you how to do it.
How it works:
To take part in this free program, registration is required. Participants should then submit their work to Jordan (10 double-spaced pages max, without author name) along with any specific questions they would like answered. An email detailing this process will be sent to all participants upon registration.
Each piece of writing will be printed and placed in a numbered envelope for fellow participants to read during the workshop. All participants are encouraged to bring a travel mug for tea and coffee, then hunker down to read and respond to as many envelopes of writing as possible.
Already feeling intimidated?
DO NOT WORRY. You are better at giving feedback than you might think. Even if poetry is not your forte, read it, and respond constructively and honestly. Writers need readers’ perspective to grow. Readers are the reason we write. If you are a reader, you already have the necessary tools. All written feedback for each piece will go into the envelope for the writer to take away at the end of the session.
Reviewers are encouraged to leave their name and contact info with their comments so that the writer may strike up a conversation outside this group with the reviewers they feel can help them moving forward.
