Etching Press generously donated to the Charlotte Street Arts Centre

The Charlotte Street Arts Centre (CSAC) is now the proud owner of an etching press. The Canadian made 13” x 24” Praga table top press was recently donated to the centre to help support current and future printmaking classes.

“I received an email from someone looking to pass this piece of equipment on to a good home,” said Matt Carter, CSAC executive director. “I explained how popular our current linocut printmaking classes have been and how a piece of equipment like this could play an important role in shaping future programming here at the centre.”

The donor was pleased at the prospect of their press finding a good home and so arrangements were made to move the 200lbs piece of equipment to the arts centre.

“I am constantly amazed at the support we receive from the community,” said Carter. “Over the past few months we have welcomed a lot of donated equipment to support the development of new classes and workshops scheduled to begin in the fall. We are very lucky to be surrounded by such kindness, none of which we take for granted. My dream is that this press will not only play a role in future classes and workshops but also be made accessible to the public through future open studio programs.”

More details to come.
