The Charlotte Street Arts Centre has received a $20,000 Community Board grant from the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation supporting the development and launch of a new program for youth (ages 12-18) dedicated to audio recording, live-streaming and podcast production. The program will be delivered through the Centre’s youth programming branch - ArtReach - and will provide access to equipment, mentorship and training in sound engineering and digital media.
The Charlotte Street Arts Centre’s 20th anniversary exhibition series will pair a wide range of emerging and established New Brunswick artists with community group partnerships and a number of special projects.
For this event, we're teaming up with Backyard History's Andrew MacLean to share his story Only Men May Vote! - A Tale of Fredericton Women's Lost and Found Voting Rights, taken from his latest book, Rebellious Women of the Maritimes. Told as a staged reading, Andrew, with the help of several special guests including Mayor Kate Rogers, Fredericton Poet Laureate Fawn Parker, and Fredericton City Councillor Cassandra LeBlanc together with our friends (and local MLAs!) David Coon and Luke Randall, will share the amazing story of New Brunswick women's rights advocate and all around trailblazer, Muriel McQueen Fergusson.
